Families are increasingly requesting to rent a casket. To facilitate this request, we offer a casket designed to allow for this service. The casket is a specially crafted unit that facilitates an inner simple container to hold the body. The casket itself acts as a "shell" around this container making it suitable for public visitation and viewing. | |
After the funeral service, the funeral director removes the inner container from the outer casket shell. The inner container holding the body is then cremated. The cremated remains are then placed in an urn of the families choosing. |

Prearranging a funeral is a wise thing to do. We want to make sure that you fully understand the terms of a prepaid contract and how your funds are protected under Indiana law.
1. Your funeral director does not get to keep your money. By law, your preneed funds must be deposited and held in a trust.
2. Your preneed contract is irrevocable after 30 days. You cannot cancel your contract after that point and no one can take any money from the trust except at time of death.
3. The funeral services and merchandise listed on your contract are guaranteed. The growth interest and dividends) on the amount held in trust will remain on deposit to cover future price increases. If at the time of death, the amount in the trust is less than the funeral home’s current retail prices, they must provide the services and merchandise shown on the contract and accept the loss. In exchange for assuming this risk, if the amount held in the trust exceeds their current retail price, they may retain the excess funds. You and your family will not be required to pay any additional amount to obtain the funeral services and merchandise you selected.
4. Cash advance items (charges made by cemeteries, newspapers, and other third parties) on your contract are only estimates and are not fully guaranteed. A percentage of the earnings on the trust will be credited towards the amount on deposit for these items, but if there is a shortfall, your family will be required to pay any difference.
5. Your contract is transferable to another funeral home in the event you move or otherwise must change funeral homes. In order to accept the transfer, the newly selected funeral home must honor the terms of the contract and guarantee to provide the funeral services and merchandise you originally selected.
If you have questions, please contact us.
IF YOU HAVE MADE PRE-ARRANGEMENTS AT ANOTHER ESTABLISHMENT, YOU CAN CHANGE TO CUTLER'S. YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING. WE CAN ARRANGE TO TRANSFER THE PRE-PAID TRUST BEFORE OR AFTER THE DEATH OCCURS. WE WILL HONOR OTHER LOCAL AND NON-LOCAL FUNERAL HOMES PREPAID FUNERAL PLANS WHICH ARE VALID AND ARE CURRENTLY IN FORCE.
It’s natural to think about final arrangements as you age. You should be prepared for the costs of your funeral, which can include memorial services and cremation or burial plots in advance before making any decisions on what will happen after death.
The Federal Trade Commission's “Funeral Rule” establishes several requirements that funeral homes must meet. This rule also requires a "funeral prices list" to be provided to consumers, one that gives them a better understanding of what they're paying for and their rights. It's important to know your legal rights before you sign anything. They could be overcharged for funeral items, but the law protects consumers from knowing what they're signing up for.
Having a life insurance policy can help cover funeral costs and other final expenses related to the passing of a loved one. Additionally, life insurance may cover funeral costs or help pay for end-of-life expenses such as medical bills or burial costs if it applies. Family members of deceased individuals will also often need financial support during this difficult time and supplemental income from an estate can provide partial financial relief.
Burial insurance is a type of final expense that can be very useful to seniors because it protects the surviving loved ones from experiencing financial burdens when they pass.
Low-Income Funerals are arrangements made by funeral homes to financially include families who cannot afford a standard service. The most economical option is usually a direct burial or cremation, but many don't like this option since it does not provide mourners with something tangible to remember and honor the deceased on significant anniversaries. Low-Income Funerals often offer budget-friendly options such as burial sites at national/state cemeteries, urns for ashes of cremated remains, and memorial services that can be held at your home or church.
Veterans receive many benefits upon death, including burial in a national cemetery and grave marker with the name of the deceased. Spouses are also entitled to be buried next to their veteran spouses if they meet certain requirements. If a veteran dies, their surviving family members are entitled to various benefits. The guidelines may be different depending on whether they were active duty or retired but rest assured that these programs will provide some relief in their time of need as well as help with funeral costs if needed!
The estate is responsible for the funeral. It would be a part of taking care of the deceased's affairs and making sure all of his or her final wishes are fulfilled. If a last will exist, it should name a person to take over from there following death. If a will or an estate plan does not exist, then state law determines who inherits and is entrusted with caring for the deceased's final arrangements. Funeral homes are often required to sign releases when the person responsible for funeral costs cannot afford it. The final arrangements of a loved one will then be turned over to coroners and they can dispose of it accordingly.
